Every piece on this website is made by Ancizar Marin: created in fiberglass and resin, then hand-finished to a high gloss in lacquer. The whole collection grew out of one idea, a climbing figure, caught mid-motion on a wall, and has since branched into divers, skydivers, winter athletes and more, all built the same way and finished in the same 29 colourways.

Ancizar Marin's climber sculptures and installations, for which he is best known, are composed of fiberglass and resin, and finished with a high gloss lacquer in a dazzling array of hues. They continue to delight everyone who encounters them scaling and rappelling down walls, leaning against columns, and perching on lintels.
Evoking teams of rock climbers, divers, cats, dogs, surfers, winter sports, sky-divers and high flyers, suspended high above ground on screws or wires that are looped, lassoed, and threaded about them, engaged in gravity-defying feats. The active forms charm young and old, reminding us that art is not always intended to intellectually challenge its viewers.
Marin’s figurative forms encourages and allow collectors to purchase multiple sculptures at a time. For Marin, this achieves his desire to encourage the figures to engage with one another in dynamic groupings that can be arranged and rearranged at will.
The shadows thrown off by the glossy figures, who alternately squat, leap, lunge, stretch, and perform arabesques, further energise the walls against which they are installed, so that the spatial sum of the parts far exceeds the individual sculptural components.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Ancizar Marin was born in Colombia in 1968. He struggled through grade school, and it was an uncle, a painter, who first introduced him to art. In 1982 he enrolled at the Bellas Artes Institute in Manizales, Colombia, then went on to study sculpture at the Luccio Petraglia School of Art in Bogotá, specialising in bronze and steel.
After graduating, Marin kept experimenting with metal, bronze, steel, chrome, and glass before travel through South America, and later Spain, Italy, Venezuela and the US, pushed him toward new textures and colour. His current technique, fiberglass and resin finished in automotive paint, is what the wall-climbing figures, divers, winter athletes and other poses in this catalogue are made from. He now lives and works in South Florida, and his pieces have shown in design magazines, galleries and art fairs, alongside ongoing private commissions.
"ART DOESN'T HAVE TO BE DIFFICULT TO BE GOOD"
"Since my time in high school, sculpture has been an obsession and a fascination for me. The idea of moulding three-dimensional forms, with contour, details and colours provides me endless creativity. I have been privileged to have worked with masters such as Fernando Botero. Being an artist sculptor has never been easy. However, I cannot describe the amount of joy, happiness and peace that I feel when I am sculpting especially when working on a new idea.
I have developed an affinity for fiberglass and bronze as a medium. Such material provides me with infinite ways to express my ideas, my feelings, my desires, my thoughts and the challenge of knowing how we the artists are very different. That’s why I experiment with new techniques and finishes, including chrome, bronze, volcano rock, wood, resin and fiberglass. I have been a recipient of many awards that have set me apart from other sculptors.
My intention is to capture the attention of the viewer to stimulate a dialogue of love, admiration, knowledge and feelings for art. My dreams are very clear and my most important wish is that my work will bring the same joy and happiness they bring to me. And that other people will love my pieces as much as I do.”
